Through creating interactive school presentations, connecting families with dental resources at community events, and distributing oral health kits in the Richmond and Oakland area, the Dental Committee hopes to improve accessibility and develop lifelong dental hygiene habits in underserved communities.
The Dental Committee goes to elementary schools to teach 3rd-6th graders about oral hygiene. In these presentations, we provide students with demonstrations of techniques that they can implement in their daily oral hygiene routines. We also hold a bracelet making event as one of of our socials, and these bracelets are then used at their table for community events and given along with a goodie bag! We also attend Neighborhood Empowerment Day. We also visited DeJean Middle School, and presented to 2 classrooms about oral health care, tooth anatomy, vaping impacts, and energy drink Impacts
